Lunga Stables , ( 01852500 632 / 07590023515 ) Immediately next to Lunga estate office is operated by Patricia O'Reilly, Offering the unique ranch style experience of riding western, as well as conventional English riding, on well trained horses and ponies. Lessons, children's pony rides and pony days, trail riding and even pub rides are available.

With endless tracks to explore, both beginners and experienced riders can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, perhaps paddle in the sea, or just brush up on technique.

A complete holiday package can be put together for you while you stay in one of the Lunga estate cottages or cabins, many of which overlook the horses' fields so you can wake up to the sight of horses grazing.

The nearby village of Craobh Haven has a 250 berth Marina  01852 500222 where boat trips, yacht charter and an extensive chandlery are available.

Craobh Haven watersports ( 07904 284 310) offers a range of water sport activities including boat and kayak and SUP hire as well as formal RYA training. Plus a wonderful cafe serving a selection of foods for snacks and lunch ( closed for 2023 )

Boat trip on Farsain 07880714165 takes day and half day trips  among the Inner Hebrides and sometimes also ferries walkers to the remote and inaccessible islands.

In Ardfern, 2 miles over the forestry track or 6 miles by public road, With a Kirk, a School and the Craignish Village Hall this is the main local community.   Ardfern Yacht Centre has charter yachts and an extensive chandlery. From here Boats sail on 2-3 hour trips for wildlife and the whirlpool craignish cruises .

Ardfern Village Shop stocks almost anything you could need  Open 08.00 - 18.30 Monday - Saturday; 09.00 - 18.00 Sunday.  With shorter hours during the winter. 01852 500298.

 The Craignish Community has an active programme of events see hall website and a summer Arts festival, with highlights including live music, the infamous Pirate Parade and the Scarecrow trail.

To the south is Crinan, with the Crinan Canal, Crinan Boats and the famous Crinan Hotel with its Seafood bar, well worth visiting for a pint after a walk up to Dun Dounie.

To the north is Arduine with Loch Melford Hotel with a lovely restaurant and new patio area to enjoy evening drinks with a fabulous view and the National Trust Arduaine Gardens  and Kilmelford Yacht Haven and Kilmelfort has the room at the top restaurant.

On clachan Seil you can find Sea Life Adventures fast boat trips to the Corryvreckan or Dive Scotland  and  diving trips around the area, with a lovely pub with food and drink.  Just nearby you take the little ferry out to Eadale island with the  Easdale Island folk museum .   Do try your hand at stone skimming in the old slate quarries as this is the home to the world stone skimming championships and after have a lovley drink and a liitle food at the pub after

Boat trips from all of these harbours go out to the islands, the sounds, tidal passages and to the world famous Gulf of Corryvreckan where, in comfort, it is possible to see a huge range of seabirds including the recently re-introduced sea eagles as well as red deer, fallow, wild goats, seals, otters, basking sharks and whales.

Kilmartin Museum , 6 miles south, is a wealth of information on the many archaeological and historically significant sites in the area and the cafe attached to the museum has an excellent well deserved reputation. See the self guided tour of the stones.

  The Forestry Commission and the Dalriada Project have some especially beautiful wildlife and woodland walks as well as the beaver re-introduction project at Knapdale forest

Taynish nature reserve near Tayvallich a massive area encompassing all of the area of the taynish pennsula wonderfgul walks.

Crinan with lovely walks along the canal and the Crinan Hotel with food and a bar and further south again is the lovely inlets of Tayvallich and the Tayvallich Inn with a great selection of  seafood ( (0)1546870282)
 
The seaside town of Oban is 22 miles to the north and the main ferry terminus , with trips available to Mull, Iona, Colonsay and other islands.

Ferry terminals at Kennacraig and Tarbet to the south give access to further exciting locations such as Islay, Jura and the Cowal peninsula.

Just outside Oban, Dunollie Castle , the seat and ancestral home of Clan MacDougall, stands as an iconic monument to the history of the area.
