A spellbinding musical collaboration between two of Scotland’s most acclaimed folk musicians, Mairearad Green and Rachel Newton, in the atmospheric surroundings of Lunga House.
This isn’t just a concert—it’s a deeply personal and historic performance, as these two exceptional artists bring their musical connection and shared heritage to life through song. Their music is a tribute to their great-great-grandmother, Anna Bhàn, and her role in the Coigach resistance of 1852/53—a powerful story of defiance, resilience, and legacy, brought to life through haunting melodies, poetic lyrics, and masterful instrumentation.
Both highly respected solo artists, Green and Newton have performed together in various ensembles, but this project marks an especially intimate and meaningful collaboration, weaving together Scottish folk traditions with contemporary arrangements. Expect a performance filled with atmosphere, depth, and emotion, as they share songs passed down through generations alongside original compositions inspired by their ancestry.
