Major Francis Howard Lindsay was the son of William Alexander Lindsay and Lady Harriet Gordon.
He was born on 9 March 1876.
He married Helen Margaret MacDougall, daughter of Lt.-Col. Stewart MacDougall, on 14 April 1910.
