To all our past customers, friends of Lunga and those hoping to come and visit,

On 27th December 2003 there was a fire in the old house, which did much damage, particularly to the self-catering flats. Most of the contents were saved and only Spencer Drawing Room and the two Bachelor bedrooms above have been largely destroyed. It took five hours to get the fire under control and naturally there is much smoke and water damage. The huge efforts of the local volunteer firebrigade and the aid of the recently restored ponds in the Victorian water garden, played a big part.

It will take much planning and a lot of work to restore the house and hopefully to make some improvements. Safety will be a major factor and the requirements of Historic Scotland for a B listed building will have to be included. We hope to achieve this and be ready to re-open in good order by the spring of 2005.

We will be working not only on the house but also on the gardens and cottages, on the old furniture, the pictures, and on some splendid new redecoration, so that we can give you a warm welcome and some real old highland hospitality then,

Meanwhile we hope to hear from you and to keep in touch. We can still offer self-catering in Dail Cottage, Fillans Cottage and Coachmans Cottage. We can offer serviced accommodation on a nightly basis in the two Courtyard rooms, although until we have more facilities the B&B may mean a self-service breakfast.

We very much hope that you will come back and stay with us soon and share this especially beautiful and peaceful place.

Aye, Colin.
